About Scott Howard

In the late 1960's Mr Fred Appleton was running a small office seating company in the North of England called Evertaut Seating when he was head hunted by the international furniture company Herman Miller inc. based in Michigan USA to run their European division.

Mr Fred Appleton was appointed Managing Director of European Operations for Herman Miller in 1972 based from the world famous City of Bath in England.

Through his stewardship Herman Miller became the market leader throughout Europe but Mr Appleton had designs on starting his own business and in 1977 this became reality when he open Scott Howard Office Furniture also based in the City of Bath.

In the thirty years the company has traded it has been directly responsible for launching some of the most famous products ever to be sold in Europe.

As a family operation Scott Appleton became Managing Director in 1991 and has continued the traditions of the business of supplying high quality design furniture throughout Europe.

Today Scott Howard Office Furniture continues that tradition and now has offices in both Europe and Asia supplying many of the iconic designs of the twentieth century from famous designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Noguchi, Eileen Grey, Florence Knoll, Arne Jacobsen and many more.

As we step out into a new decade we look forward to enlarging our product offer to contain many more iconic designs at affordable prices and more importantly we strive to make these designs freely available to the mass market.
